Creating a Treasure Trove of Scientific Insights

September 15, 2022

We are delighted to welcome AgiLab to the Tetra Partner Network and to share a recent conversation with Anahita Laskowski, Head of Sales. As the amount of data created within laboratories increases at an exponential rate, AgiLab offers disruptive, low-code, compliant software capable of merging multiple functionalities of ELNs, LIMS, LES, into a single digital laboratory platform.

Please tell us briefly about AgiLab’s background

AgiLab was founded in 2010. We are privately owned and run today by the same people who saw the need for a true technology disruptor, one that is able to challenge the status quo and deliver a solution for the evolving needs of those within the Pharmaceuticals, Life Sciences, Biopharmaceuticals and the extended regulated industries sector. Our product is streamlined and agile, able to be deployed as cloud applications (or on-premise if required) with no loss of functionality or appreciable data latency.

Today AgiLab helps life sciences organizations, pharmaceutical companies, and regulated industries to be more productive and compliant by improving research and development (R&D) efficiency and ensuring quality control (QC) compliance to deliver innovative and safe products more quickly to the world.

Why was AgiLab created?

After working within the laboratory informatics industry for many years, the founders saw a gap in the market for a modern UX and a true single digital laboratory platform.

The AgiLab Mission and Culture:

Why? We believe in accelerating the pace of digital transformation for laboratories by providing flexible and compliant software that users want to use.

How? We help laboratories to become more efficient and support processes from R&D, QA/QC through to manufacturing.

What? We offer a Unified Laboratory Digital Platform with LIMS, ELN, LES and EBR capabilities in a single enterprise-ready system.

What makes AgiLab different?

The lab informatics systems market today primarily consists of applications that are focused on either flexible “ELN” capability, more rigid “LIMS” or a hybrid of multiple technologies that are poorly integrated or are weak in some areas. Some of the biggest LIMS and ELN vendors are still running on obsolete stacks such as smallTalk.

AgiLab runs on the latest low-code Oracle Apex technology which is always going to be kept up to date with the digital industry trends by one of the world’s biggest software vendors.

AgiLab runs on the latest low-code Oracle Apex technology which is always going to be kept up to date with the digital industry trends by one of the world’s biggest software vendors.  The application runs on a web-based, super modern UX and easy to navigate platform which entails all laboratory systems such as LIMS, LES, ELN and EBR.  Further, AgiLab can leverage all of the latest industry releases such as Machine Learning, AI and advanced charting.

AgiLab offers a unified laboratory digital platform to stay ahead of the accelerating pace of innovation in data management for laboratories. We believe in helping laboratories to:

  • improve collaboration and customer satisfaction
  • increase process efficiency
  • improve effectiveness of operations
  • meet regulatory compliance with ease

What parts of the biopharmaceutical value chain do you serve?

AgiLab largely serves clients from Cell Therapeutics, immune-monitoring to R&D and QA/QC product release industries.  Our clients in the biopharmaceutical industry use AgiLab for various parts of their processes from patient management to research & development to product release in QC/QA manufacturing for individual patients.

How are your customers using your platform and what benefits are they getting?

One of the main advantages we hear our customers mention often is the ability to merge all LIMS, ELN and LES capabilities and streamline their processes which allows them to effectively manage the flow of samples/tests and associated data to improve their lab efficiency.  Our integrated LES solution means the lab users are able to bring in all collaborative data in R&D and even follow through to QA/QC.  Further, AgiLab offers a large range of modules which come pre-configured out of the box to meet industry standards which reduces implementation time and cost significantly for our customers Some of the modules include but are not limited to: Patient Management, Inventory/Equipment Management, Stability Studies, QC Lot Management, Request Management, Formulation/Product Development, Study/Protocol Management, Method Execution, Plate Management and Resource Management within the labs.

Our integrated LES solution means the lab users are able to bring in all collaborative data in R&D and even follow through to QA/QC.

What kinds of changes do you expect to see in laboratory informatics in the next 5 years?

In a data-driven world – naturally one of the biggest changes and challenges we predict in the laboratory informatics industry is the management of ‘big-data’ which is both in-line with evolving regulations and is best leveraged to save time, cost and effort.

In the last decade, the amount of data generated by laboratories and handled by LIMS has increased dramatically and is expected to continue increasing at an exponential rate.  Particularly with advances in cell and genetic testing and a shift toward personalized medicine.

Laboratories that intend to thrive in this ever changing environment will require nimbleness and high adaptability in order to ensure longevity.

Laboratories that intend to thrive in this ever changing environment will require nimbleness and high adaptability in order to ensure longevity.  As the volume and complexity of pharmaceutical/clinical/manufacturing data continues to increase, it is evident that data can provide a treasure trove of valuable insights if properly captured and analyzed.  And here lies the challenge for the customers to carefully consider what combination of software they can rely on to harness the potential.

What would you say is the value of joining the Tetra Partner Network?

AgiLab and TetraScience have a shared interest – and that is to help customers become more efficient in a fast-paced, data-driven industry.  One of AgiLab’s main focuses is to provide a ‘one-stop shop’ platform which means that our clients do not need to integrate with a large number of third-party systems, all in different formats to be able to access data.  And one of the main values we see in this partnership is that TetraScience adheres to the same principle.  Further, we often have clients asking us for the best solution to their many sources of data coming in from various instruments and shared data systems and being able to offer the clients one of the TetraScience solutions would definitely be very advantageous to all parties involved.

Is there anything else you would like to share with us?

AgiLab is currently working with pharmaceutical and cell therapies companies to develop Machine Learning capabilities as a part of our ‘Big-Data’ initiative. AgiLab is going to work with Oracle and our customers to build ML/AI capabilities which will be readily available for future customers once it has been validated.
